What is NCS Portal

The National Career Service (NCS) Portal is an ICT-based platform that connects job seekers, employers, skill providers, career counselors, and placement organizations. It aims to provide transparent and user-friendly services, including job matching, career counseling, vocational guidance, and information on skill development courses. Operated under the Directorate General of Employment, the portal transforms over 1,000 employment exchanges into IT-enabled Career Centers, offering services like job fairs and online training programs.

NCS stands for National Career Service, a mission-mode project initiated by the Ministry of Labour and Employment to create a unified, tech-driven employment ecosystem. 

The portal facilitates Aadhaar-based authentication for seamless registration and access to career-related services, including job searches, skill development, and industry trends across 53 sectors like IT, Textiles, and Pharma. 

It empowers youth by providing free, accessible tools to enhance employability and career planning.

What is the Main Purpose of the National Career Service (NCS) Portal

  • Bridge Employment Gaps: Connect job seekers with employers through job matching and job fairs, both online and on-campus.
  • Career Guidance: Offer online and on-ground career counseling and vocational guidance to help users make informed career choices based on their skills and interests.

  • Transparency and Accessibility: Deliver services through multiple channels, including Career Centers, mobile devices, and Common Service Centres (CSCs), ensuring nationwide reach.

  • Comprehensive Career Information: Provide details on over 3,000 job roles across 52 sectors, aligned with the National Classification of Occupation-2015, in text and video formats.

NCS Portal Registration Steps

  • Step 1: Visit the official NCS Portal at ncs.gov.in.
  • Step 2: On the homepage, click the “Sign Up” button below the “Sign In” option in the login box.
  • Step 3: Select “Job Seeker” as the registration type and click “Continue.”
  • Step 4: Fill in the registration form with details such as name, email, mobile number, and Aadhaar number.
  • Step 5: Verify your mobile number with the OTP sent to your registered number.
  • Step 6: Set up your profile by logging in with your user ID and password, then update details like education, experience, skills, and address under “View/Update NCS Profile.”
  • Step 7: Upload relevant documents using DigiLocker for verification.
  • Step 8: Save your profile and start searching for jobs or accessing career services.
  • Note: Registration is free, and users receive job notifications via SMS/email based on their profile.
