About IBPS PO Exam 2017

The exam seeks to fill in around 3247 vacancies in the post of Probationary Officers at 20 participating banks. Like the 2015 and 2016 edition, the exam will be conducted online in two phases. IBPS PO Prelims will be conducted in September while the IBPS PO Mains exam will be conducted in November. The two objective tests will be followed by an interview.

The Preliminary paper is distinguished by the fact that it has only three sections and is likely to be easier than the Main paper.   1. BILINGUAL TEST: Every section (except English Language) in the paper will be available in Hindi as well as in English.
  2. NEGATIVE MARKING: Each wrong answer deducts 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question from your total. In this case, since each question is worth 1 mark, you lose ¼ marks per wrong answer.

Preliminary Exam

It is the first stage for IBPS PO and SBI PO recruitment process. The candidates should focus towards this stage because it is very important as only those who will be able to get through with the cutoff of this stage are eligible for Mains Examination. Prelims Exam is conducted online in which objective type questions asked. The total time duration of the exam is 1 hour and it covers the following sections:

Reasoning Ability

The Reasoning Ability section in Bank PO examination consists of 35 questions, which test the ability of the candidate on various parameters like calculation, accuracy, and speed of responding in a situation that requires logical reasoning.

Mains Exam

The only difference candidates face in the transition from Preliminary Exam and the Mains exam is the addition of 2 more subjects with an extended time of 1 hours and 40 minutes. The Mains Exam is divided into 4 sections.
